At the same time as the greater attention paid to a more "natural" concept of clean beauty, it is also growing popularity of mineral makeup.
But what is it about?
In a nutshell, the mineral makeup it is a make-up made up of… minerals and, obviously, of those minerals that can generate a positive contribution for our skin.
So let's try to summarize some of the main ones characteristics of mineral makeup, and why more and more women are using it.
Mineral make-up and sensitive skin
The first thing we want to clarify is that due to the lack of parabens, binders and fillers, mineral makeup is hypoallergenic, which makes it the best choice for sensitive skin and those with acne, rosacea, psoriasis and eczema problems.
Of course, mineral makeup also works well for all skin types, not just sensitive ones, giving natural foundation coverage. It is also available in different forms, from ordinary tinted moisturizers to those that last up to 24 hours.
The formulas with which the mineral makeups are made are "non-comedogenic", ie they do not clog the pores. Obviously, those with sensitive skin and perhaps want to cover acne with foundation, the last thing they will need is a make-up that causes even more obstructions!
Therefore, made specifically for skin prone to acne and other conditions of this type, mineral makeup is clinically proven to decrease the appearance of blemishes and redness of the skin.

Mineral makeup and oily skin
One of the main beliefs about the mineral makeup is that it may be good for oily skin. Indeed, it is a proven feature: mineral makeup is good for all skin types, and this can only include the oily skin, as natural minerals can absorb excess oils.
Mineral foundations generally have a luminous finish thanks to the light-catching pigments that are used in the formulas, but if you prefer a matte finish you still have some particularly appreciable mineral options.
They are therefore light and non-drying products, which offer complete and compact coverage.
Natural sun protection
Another advantage of using foundation minerals is the fact that most have one as their main ingredient natural sunscreen: titanium dioxide, or zinc oxide. Suitable for all skin types, including those with sensitive or rosacea skin, these natural sunscreen ingredients (which also have anti-inflammatory properties and a calming effect on the skin) make up some of the key ingredients in mineral makeup.
The duration of mineral makeup
Having clarified the above, we can try to further improve knowledge with the mineral makeup denying some false claims.
For example, one of them is the fact that mineral makeup doesn't last. It's false: the natural elements of mineral makeup blend perfectly with the skin and natural oils. Generally the mineral tricks are tested for a duration of 12 hours, and the formulas are composed for very high percentages (even 90%) of vitamins and minerals. In other cases, the duration of mineral makeup is even greater, with an extension of effectiveness up to 24 hours, also improving the texture of the skin.
It is also possible to extend the use of any mineral foundation or eye shadow by first using a primer. In fact, the primer will help smooth out fine lines and improve the application of the foundation.
Mineral foundation and wrinkles
Another false belief is that the mineral makeup enhances wrinkles. Again this is false: to prevent any foundation from accentuating wrinkles, just use the right type for your skin.
Indeed, all women have different needs when it comes to natural-looking makeup, and each differs from the others based on a long series of determinants, from genetics and skin conditions to environmental factors and age.
So if it seems to you that your mineral powder foundation is able to highlight your wrinkles, use a face primer to help fill in the finer ones and help you apply the foundation.
Various types of mineral makeup
Finally, we also deny the fact that the foundation is the only mineral makeup available. Although it is probably the most famous mineral makeup, it is actually possible to buy different mineral makeup formulas, perhaps suitable for eye and lip care, and even body skin care.
In this last case, a look in some specialized shop will certainly not lack the possibility of identifying excellent skin care products, moisturizers that contain minerals that help replenish essential hydration, based on cleansing elements that help refine, purify and gently cleanse the skin.
In short, we hope that these brief ideas can be useful to further improve the knowledge of mineral makeup and, if you wish, they can also be a pleasant business card to approach this scenario with greater awareness.
