The average thickness of the substrate is around 30 - 50 centimeters, with a suitable slope position that can guarantee a better disposal of any water infiltrated under the structure.

However, from this more traditional form of ventilated crawl space, other types then spread, which perhaps have more sophisticated levels of protection, or perhaps are even more elementary, protecting only from rising damp and not from the problem of condensation that in some areas it could be particularly important in the summer.
